Issued through Bank of America, the Virgin Atlantic American Express Card - Black gives you the ability to earn outstanding miles. In your first year as a Virgin Atlantic American Express Cardholder (Black), you can earn up to 40,000 flying club miles and put yourself into an elevated status for even better benefits whenever you fly Virgin Atlantic Airways. Earning miles is simple - for every dollar you spend on your Virgin Atlantic American Express Black Card, you'll earn 3 miles. When you use your card to make everyday purchases, you earn 1.5 miles per every dollar spend.
New Virgin Atlantic American Express Black Cardholders are rewarded even more, with 20,000 bonus miles after you very first purchase! Virgin likes to reward cardholders with up to 15,000 bonus miles for every year anniversary, and each time you add an additional cardmember to your account you can earn up to 5,000 bonus miles.
Don't think you're limited to just earning miles for Virgin Atlantic Airways travel though - in addition to your miles earnings with every purchase, you also earn tier points. For every $2,500 in purchases (with a maximum of 2 per month, or up to $5,000 monthly), you get a tier point. You also earn additional tier points each time you fly with Virgin Atlantic Airways. The more tier points you accumulate, the higher your status, and the higher your status becomes, the greater your cardholder benefits become. In addition, if you make Virgin Atlantic American Express Black your card of choice and use it for all of your purchases, and you spend at least $25,000 in purchases within a year, you can redeem miles for a Virgin Atlantic Economy reward ticket - and get another one for half the miles.
Additional cardholder benefits include automatic membership in Virgin Atlantic Plastic Fantastic- a fun filled program with special offers for entertainment, discounts and excitement only available to cardholders. Your card entitles you to personal concierge services, including VIP access to hotel, difficult-to-get tickets and dining reservations.
More traditional credit card benefits are also included with your Virgin Atlantic American Express Card (Black), such as Identity Theft Recovery, Retail Protection Coverage, Extended Warranty and Travel Accident Insurance coverage. You also receive emergency roadside assistance and emergency assistance that helps you find medical, legal and travel oriented services 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency while traveling.
