Offered through FIA Card Services, the Total Merrill Cash Back Visa card is a credit card for people who like rewards programs that earn cash back. Merrill Lynch offers a cash back reward program on this credit card, with earnings accumulating for every dollar spent on the card.

Cardholders of the Total Merrill Cash Back Visa Card will earn a cash back reward credit for each dollar spent on the card. It is up to the cardholder how he or she would like to receive the rewards earned: there is an option of having reward credits deposited automatically into either the Merril Lynch Cash Management Account or a Beyond Banking account once there is a minimum of 5,000 reward credits earned; or the option to receive a check for the rewards. There are no maximum amounts for the total amount of reward credits that can be earned, but when you receive reward checks you'll want to cash them within 90 days of receiving them as the checks expire.

Unlike some rewards credit cards that charge an annual fee in exchange for the rewards, the Total Merrill Cash back Visa card does not charge any annual fees and offers a low fixed interest rate on purchases and cash advances. Cardholders will benefit from lower rates on both cash advances and balance transfers within the first year of opening their account, as well, due to the introductory offer.

Typically, the interest rates on rewards credit cards are high enough that if you don't pay it off in full each month, whatever you've earned in rewards is then paid out in interest. Total MerrillCash Back Visa card is one of the few rewards credit cards that makes it possible to earn rewards while still carrying a balance from one month to the next- because of the low interest rate.
