If you have a very good credit rating, the American DreamCard Platinum MasterCard, issued through HSBC Bank Nevada N.A. is a good choice for your preferred credit card. While the card offers what would be considered “below average” platinum benefits; it does have the unique bonus of providing cardholders with the possibility of winning a cash sweepstakes each month they remain cardholders.
The American DreamCard Sweepstakes provides an entry for every dollar spent using the credit card, as well as each dollar taken as a cash advance or through a balance transfer. If you spend $500 in a given month, and take a $60 cash advance, you'll have 560 entries into the monthly sweepstakes. When you apply for your American DreamCard Platinum MasterCard online, you'll receive 1,000 bonus entries.
Each month, a winner is selected for a cash prize, up to half the total amount of dollars spend by all participating American DreamCard cardholders that month. Awards start at $25,000.
In addition to the unique monthly cash sweepstakes, the American DreamCard Platinum Mastercard offers a referral program, which provides cardholders with 50 additional contest entries for each referral they give that applies and receives an American DreamCard. The referrals will each receive a bonus of 1,000 contest entries when they become cardholders, as well.
The American DreamCard Platinum MasterCard does not charge an annual fee, and the interest rate is within the industry average. The APR's for all DreamCard transactions are connected to the highest Prime Rate during each three month period, so the lowest interest rates available to consumers may not be reached with the DreamCard.
Despite the fact that this card is considered a Platinum credit card, it doesn't seem to offer the typical benefits that are normally associated with platinum-level credit cards. The sweepstakes is the main benefit to cardholders. Review Date: 3/24/2008
