How to Take Advantage of a Free Annual Credit Report |
 |
Every individual has the ability to obtain a free
annual credit report and use it to their advantage. Here are
the basics of how to utilize a free annual credit report.
Free Credit Report
You can get a copy of your report from the credit bureaus that
are in charge of maintaining your credit file. To do this, simply visit
their website and click on the link that says something about getting a
free credit report. They will take you to a form to fill out that will
ask you for basic information, such as your name and Social Security
number. You will then have to verify that you are the right person
before they give you a copy of the credit report. The credit bureaus
that you can visit are Experian, Transunion, and Equifax.
What to Look for
With the free version of your credit report, you will not be
able to see your FICO score. However, you can still find other
important information. You want to look at all of your credit accounts
and see if they are accurate. You also want to see if there are any
inaccurate statements about you in the public records section.
