 |
by: Debbie Dragon
Credit cards have become a necessity for small business owners. Being able to have the power to make necessary purchases, track spending and pay for business related travel are all common ways small businesses use credit cards every day. With so many offers and options out there, it can be confusing as to which card is right for your business. Here is a look at some of the more popular cards for your comparison.
AT & T Universal Business Rewards Card
The AT & T Universal Business Rewards card is a common choice. Card benefits include no annual fee and a 0% introductory APR on purchases for your first six months.
Employers can obtain cards for each of their employees and are able to set a credit limit for each card they distribute. The card earns thank you points for purchases that can be accumulated and used for such rewards as air travel, statement credit and gift cards. Card members earn five thank you points for each dollar spent on AT&T products and services, three points for each dollar spent on eligible office supply and gas purchases and one thank you point for all other purchases. The card does cap how many thank you points you can earn each year at 100,000. The card also comes with a free prescription discount program.
American Express Platinum Business Credit Card
Another popular business card is the American Express platinum business credit card. Unlike other American Express business cards, this one comes with no annual fee. The card will also start you with a 0% introductory APR offer for six or more months, depending on your credit history. Additional cards can be obtained for your employees. Card members earn reward membership points, one point for each dollar spent. Points can be redeemed for air travel, hotels stays, dining and much more.
A great perk of this card is that points earned never expire and there is no maximum amount you can earn in a year. The card also comes with special access to the American Express online business travel center where you can book all types of travel reservations at a discount. Finally, card members can easily create custom reports to track expenses and even integrate card spending with QuickBooks.
Bank of America Platinum Plus Business MasterCard
Many small businesses also choose the Bank of America Platinum Plus Business MasterCard. Like the other cards it also offers its members no annual fee. For the first 12 billing cycles there is a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers. Small business owners can receive cards for their employees and set spending limits for each one. The card comes with employee misuse insurance protection and monthly employee spending reports. The card also offers great security purchase protection and travel emergency protection and services. It is however, a no frills card and does not carry a rewards program.
Chase INK with Ultimate Rewards
A final great option for the small business owner is Chase INK with Ultimate rewards. This card, like the others, offers no annual fee and a 0% introductory APR. Card holders can receive free business cards for employees and easily track spending on line. The card earns rewards, one point per dollar on all purchases. Card members can also earn bonus points, two points per dollar when they book airfare through the Ultimate Rewards online booking tool and up to ten points per dollar when members shop on line through the Ultimate Rewards Mall at select brand name merchants. There is no cap on the number of reward dollars members can earn and points never expire. Redeem your rewards at any time for airfare tickets with no blackout dates, gift cards, merchandise, cash back and more.
